Sky News contributor Caleb Bond has heaped "shame" on people who endorsed and propagated Bruce Pascoe's "Dark Emu" thesis.

His remarks came after one of the Nine papers last week reported two leading academics – Professor Peter Sutton and Dr Keryn Walshe – "savaged" Mr Pascoe's claims in their new book "Farmers or Hunter-Gatherers? The Dark Emu Debate".

The authors noted that Mr Pascoe's book was "littered with unsourced material, is poorly researched, distorts and exaggerates many points, selectively emphasises evidence to suit those opinions, and ignores large bodies of information that do not support the author's opinions".

"In other words, the same thing we and other presenters here have said for the last few years, only to be accused of racism," Mr Bond said.

"Shame on you so-called educators who instilled the children's version of Dark Emu into the curricula to brainwash school kids.

"Shame on you the State Library of NSW for ensuring Dark Emu won the NSW Premier's Literary Award."
