In this episode we will be making a felt model of a very early tetrapod, an animal that is closer to being a fish than the four-limbed animals that we know today. The model has been inspired by our exhibition At the Water's Edge which celebrates our very own tetrapod, Elginerpeton, the crawler from Elgin.

If you have visited the Museum to collect a kit, your pack contains everything that you need to create your tetrapod except scissors. The pack contains a needle and pins, so please be careful. Ask an adult for help to cut out the pattern. The pack contains the basic materials, but if you would like to decorate or embellish your Elginerpeton please feel free to do so – and please do share your creations with us by email or via our social media channels!

If you are making your tetrapod from scratch, as well as the template and instructions, you will need: green felt (about A4 size); scissors; pins; a sewing needle; green and black embroidery thread; kapok stuffing (about 5 g).
