Aren’t these gorgeous tiled steps an amazing sight to behold?
The colorful mosaic-patterned stairways artwork was put together during a neighborhood beautification
project in 16 th Ave at Moraga Street, San Francisco. A total of 163 mosaic panels were laid to complete
the beautiful design of sea and sky themes complete with images of animals, fish, and shells.
Inspired by the world-famous Selarón steps in Rio de Janeiro, the local residents sponsored three mosaic
workshops to put together the handmade tiled steps designed by artist Aileen Barr. It was an amazing
neighborhood beautification project since everyone could assist in the creation of this stunning street
art.
You can really feel the love in the artwork! From the bottom looking up, as a collection, the tiled steps
are beautiful. And from the top, looking down, it's one of the best views in San Francisco.
