Despite their having kept a low profile for as long as they’ve been a
band, playing rare small shows, having issued just one EP (their S/T
tape on Murung Records, 2017) and having no internet presence, whenever.
Skalp hit the stage you can immediately feel they’re no small time band.
Their sound is huge, their stance unwavering, the music flows out of
them like spit and sweat: a cascade of unrelenting d-beat delivered in
short bursts for maximum impact.
On ‘Mai Domi’ (‘Untamed’), their second tape out on Sentiero Futuro and
Sistema Mortal, Skalp stand on the shoulders of giants like Anti-Cimex
and Framtid to offer five new cuts of wild, free, politically charged
d-beat with monster vocals and face-melting riffs, starting with the
straight up hardcore savagery of “Il Prossimo Sei Tu” (“You’re Next”)
and culminating in the primitive, minimalist death trip “Solo Catene
Hanno Per Te” (“Only Chains They Have For You”). In the course of five
short songs, the evocative lyrics pose key questions on progress,
humanity, war, and the future. The tape also includes three live cuts
from one of their blistering shows at their home squat COA T28.
