Following the ousting of Imran Khan by a no-confidence vote on Sunday, Pakistani lawmakers have elected Shehbaz Sharif as the country’s new prime minister.

Sharif was the only contender following the walkout of the more than 100 members of parliament from Khan's party and was elected with 174 votes. He is the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, who served as Pakistan's prime minister three times in the past.
