The Burtch Works Study 2016: Updated Salaries of Data Scientists

Описание к видео The Burtch Works Study 2016: Updated Salaries of Data Scientists

2016 marks the third consecutive year that Burtch Works has published The Burtch Works Study: Salaries of Data Scientists, about the “elusive kingpins of the Big Data movement”. The enthusiasm for data-driven strategy has continued to increase since our initial study in 2014, and many are likely well familiar with some of the effects this has had on the quantitative hiring market.

There have been a number of interesting use cases for data science over the past few years, and no doubt there will be even more by the time we compile next year’s report. Preventative maintenance, optimizing loyalty programs, tracking players to improve engagement, and personalized medicine are examples of places where data science has taken hold, not to mention more well-known instances like personalized advertising.

One side effect of this attention is that the term “data scientist” has become ubiquitous, and so in this presentation we set out to explain how data scientists differ from other predictive analytics professionals, in addition to their salary and demographic trends. As some of the immense hype begins to fade away to a more “business as usual” attitude, these next few years will be a proving ground for newly forged data science teams, Master’s programs, bootcamps, startups, and for new and established data scientists.

This data was collected in the 12 months through our conversations while executing searches for clients. We used salary and demographic information from a sample of 374 data scientists across the United States to show how data scientist salaries are changing across all career levels. The report gives full compensation and demographic data including:

Salaries and Bonuses
Level of experience
Industry and Region
Residency Status
Gender and Education
How data scientist salaries compare to other predictive analytics professionals
