Welcome to my teaching through repertoire tutorial series - you've found Steel City Strut which is a Grade 5 written by the violist of the Turtle Island String Quartet, Danny Seidenberg,

Steel City is a great challenge for advanced 3rd and 4th year players, but really is suitable for advanced high school and even college. Musicians will need to be comfortable managing 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position as well as time signatures that include 12/8, 9/8, 4/4 but more so, the ability to play in compound and simple divisions simultaneously.

A great teaching piece, with a heavy R&B groove, you'll have the opportunity to really incorporate the concepts of counting and subdivision while also having a great time playing music with lots of swagger. You can find it here at jwpepper.com:
