Pregnancy calls for some changes in your skin care routine.
Considering the skin sensitivity during this period, effects of the products on your growing baby, certain molecules are to be avoided for overall safety of you and your baby. This doesn’t means you need to stop taking care of your skin or not follow a routine. Simple swaps 🔁would do.

1) Vit A derivatives ( in any form - tretinoin, retinoids, retinol, isitretinoin/ accutane) ❌ 🔁
Bakuchiol , Vitamin C 💚

Retinol use is not advised during pregnancy as it has the ability to cause defects in a developing fetus.
Swap it up with Bakuchiol which is to pregnancy safe, plant-derived retinol having similar effects though a little milder.

or with Vitamin C which is again a safe ingredient for topical application during pregnancy. This can boost collagen production and fight free radical damage.

2) Hydroquinone ❌
Azelic acid / Kojic acid 💚

Hydroquinone works for pigmentation. Though there are no solid studies linking this molecule to fetal deformities, it’s best advised to limit its use during pregnancy.

🔁with Azelic acid / Kojic acid as they multi task with anti bacterial properties, fight acne ( mainly azelic)and reduce pigmentation ( mainly Kojic acid)

3) Chemical sunscreen ❌
Physical sunscreen 💚

Chemical sunscreens contain oxybenzone and it’s derivatives are super effective & easy to use. But, they are not safe during pregnancy as they can cause endocrine disruption.
🔁 with a physical sunscreen containing zinc oxide/ titanium dioxide ( as it sits in the skin and does not penetrate through it) and increase the use to physical protection methods like wide brim hat, scarfs.

Don't forget to enjoy and cherish this phase. 😍 There's no need of worrying or stressing about your skin at this point as most of the changes are reversed after delivery.
