Gary Gottlieb discusses the challenges of providing advanced health care to the world's poorest populations.

Dr. Gottlieb is a professor of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School who has also played other important roles that go far beyond academia. Thus, he served as CEO of Partners In Health, a global NGO providing a preferential option for the poor in health care in severely resource constrained settings. Before that, he was president of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and then the CEO of its parent company which also owns Massachusetts General Hospital and is the largest health care delivery organization in New England. Dr. Gottlieb also served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and as its chair from 2016-2018.
