You might recognize some of the lyric of this song from “Outside Woman Blues”, and they’re both variants of a common keep-yo’-hands off-her blues theme. I can’t find any authorship attribution online, so I’m giving Brownie (provisional) credit as songwriter. Maybe I should have included the harmonica god Sonny Terry in the credit, as this melody and set of lyrics is directly from Sonny and Brownie's duet rendition in 1961.
You might recognize more Lead Belly than Brownie McGhee in my playing style, but both of those guys were musical role models for me.
