Shringi Ashram was the place where King Parikshit, son on Abhimanyu and grandson of Arjun came for hunting and met with Sage Shameeka who was in deep meditation. He asked for water and the sage did not respond to it. At that time with the influence of Kali, Pareekshit became angry and put a dead snake which was lying nearby on the neck of the sage. Shringi, the son of Shameeka came there after sometime and saw this sight. He became angry and cursed " whoever did this mistake will be dead with the bite of snake king Thakshak within seven days". When sage Shameeka knew this later he became very sad and informed the King about this curse. King Parikshit sat in a place surrounded by his bodyguards and many sages. Sage Shuka, the son of Sage Vyasa narrated the Bhagavath story (Bhagavat katha) to the king and surrounded people for seven days. On the last day Thakshak came there in the form of a small worm inside a fruit and showed his original body and bit the king. Thus Parikshit lost his life according to the curse. His son, Janmejaya conducted a Yagya called sarpasathra at this ashram premises and many serpents lost their lives in the fire. Indra tried to save Takshak but was forced to come to the fire. At that time sage Asthik came there and interrupted the yagya and the rest of the serpents including the Takshak were saved.

This place is around 130 kms from Delhi. One can reach here by changing two bus from Anandvihar terminal in Delhi.
