This is a 2 day trip along the Buffalo National River. I stashed my canoe and additional gear near the Steel Creek area and then drove down river to start my hike at Kyles Landing. The hiking portion of this trip was around 13 miles on the BRT including a side trip into Indian Creek. The canoe portion of this trip to complete the loop was approximately 10 miles with a 1 mile side hike to Hemmed in Hollow. I had the river to myself and most of the trail. I camped on a gravel bar below Goat Bluff. The shore was riddled with Elk prints. I wasn't aware that the Elk travel so far up and down the river. It got down to 14 F overnight which pushed my sleep set up a bit but I was warm enough. The water is currently low right now so some sections where a little boney. I almost dumped a couple times, took on some water the second time but stayed upright. Winter is a great time to enjoy this beautiful place. I have included my route link if any one is interested. Its a great way to see the Buffalo without needing to pay for a shuttle or bring two vehicles.
