"The Lord's Prayer" is perhaps the best remembered piece written by this prolific composer and organist. In truth, most of his work was completed in creating oft-uncredited film scores in Hollywood -- many for Walt Disney Studios during the era of their "Silly Symphonies" and popular short-story cartoon shorts (including "The Guy Duckling" and "Ferdinand the Bull").

During World War II, Malotte held the rank of Captain in the Special Services for two years while he toured with the USO and entertained troops in New Guinea, Australia and Europe. Music was not Malotte's only passion, however. Malotte was an amateur pilot, avid golfer and even boxed with Jack Dempsey in Memphis, Tennessee!

Written in 1935, this particular setting was first recorded by baritone John Charles Thomas, and has remained popular in churches, concerts and recordings ever since.
