This particular car was built from the ground up in 2007 and the subject of extensive re-engineering by one of the world leading Marque specialists “Pro-drive”.

The power for the car is derived from the renowned Jaguar V12 engine with replacement mechanicals all coming from both the XJS and XJ40 models. The 6.0 Litre V12 engine built by Jaguar Sport as usual for the period was mated to the GM 400, 3 speed automatic transmission. From the XJ40 came virtually the complete front and rear suspension, although a bespoke front sub-frame had to be made up. The chassis had to be strategically adapted to accept the new suspension layouts as the rear and independent layout of the XJ40 was significantly different to the old cart sprung MK IX.

This combination provides the power for effortless modern day driving with handling to match.
The braking system was uprated. The XJ40 system revised to accept 4 pot calipers, ventilated discs and of course the ABS system carried over. All the steering was re-engineered with fully revised geometry.

The mechanical works were undertaken in parallel with the full bodywork restoration. A full bare metal re-spray with body off was undertaken in the traditional Jaguar Mk IX colours of black over red. A subtle change to the leading edges of rear spats was required to accommodate the wider wheels with modern tyres.
Fitting the drive train to the chassis was a further engineering challenge. Inner wings were re crafted, custom manifolds, a bespoke prop-shaft and custom stainless steel exhaust all underwrite the staggering credentials that transform this car into the very special and usable vehicle offered for sale.
The interior of the car is re-trimmed in lovely red hide. The front area with revised seating quite different to a 1958 Mark IX but hugely pleasing and superbly comfortable. For rear passengers it is similar to a Mark IX but with revised picnic tables as per the Daimler XJ40
Air Conditioning was a “must have” as this car was built a Jaguar unit could not be used. Hence a compact unit was sourced from Mexico, this incorporates a powered dehumidifier system with powered electric cooling fan in the boot. This is operative as the A/C is switched on.
Any car with this degree of engineering must provide security and the comforts that have evolved onto luxury saloons of today. Central locking, electric front windows plus a full hi-fi system, CD, DVD and pan European satnav are all discreetly installed.
As the car was road tested, it was decided to revise spring rates and fit specially made shock absorbers. This is one very well sorted motor car.
