Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is a mental health condition characterized by sudden episodes of unwarranted anger, aggressive outbursts, or violent behaviors that are grossly out of proportion to the situation at hand. These episodes are not premeditated and cannot be attributed to another mental health disorder, substance abuse, or a medical condition. IED is distinguished by the severity and impulsivity of the aggressive episodes, rather than by any ongoing aggressive attitude or behavior.
