If you restrict someone, this user will not be able to see when you are online and he will not know that you have read his messages. What is more, restricted users’ comments on your posts will not be visible to the public, if you don’t approve them and their messages will be moved to the Requests section.

Follow these steps and you will find out how you can use this Restrict feature:

1. Go to Instagram and find a user you would like to restrict.
2. Press on the three dots icon in the top-right corner.
3. Choose the Restrict option from the pop-up menu.
4. However, if after some time you change your mind, you can easily unrestrict this person. So, once again click on the three dots icon and tap Unrestrict.
5. Instead of restricting a user, you have an opportunity to block that user. But keep in mind that a blocked user will not be able to access your Instagram profile page at all. So, it means that the Restrict option is a little bit lighter. That’s it!
