How Don Lavoie Changed the Debate about Socialism and Central Planning

Описание к видео How Don Lavoie Changed the Debate about Socialism and Central Planning

In the height of the Cold War, George Mason University economist Don Lavoie published 2 books, 'Rivalry and Central Planning: The Socialist Calculation Debate Reconsidered' (Cambridge University Press, 1985) and 'National Economic Planning: What Is Left?' (Cato Institute, 1985).

In this video, Hayek Program Director Peter Boettke and Associate Director Christopher Coyne discuss how these books changed mainstream thinking about socialism and central planning.

Additionally, the Mercatus Center's Advanced Studies in Political Economy book series has made these two books available to a new generation of scholars.
