After saying this, the sages began to leave, but the queen gave them a plate filled with pearls and jewels, saying, "Now, for three lifetimes, you won’t need to beg for alms." Udal scattered the jewels, remarking that thieves and robbers would chase after them. "The Queen of Kannauj gave us these fine garments. Give us this Nau Lakha necklace, so we have a keepsake from you." The queen then sent a maid to call her daughter, Vijaya. When the maid described the sages to Vijaya, she understood that they must be the princes of Mahoba disguised as sages. She prepared herself and came to the hall. The queen said, "Vijaya has just arrived. Now you all should start your music and dance again."
The sages resumed their performance. Udal’s tunes and dance enchanted all the women of the palace. Rani Kushala, pleased with Udal's performance, removed her Nau Lakha necklace and gave it to him. As the sages began to leave, Vijaya caught Udal’s arm by the window and said, "You are the prince of Mahoba, your name is Uday Singh. You have come here disguised as a sage." Udal replied, "Many people look like this. I am not Udal." Then Vijaya revealed, "You came to Abhai, son of Mahil’s wedding procession, wearing a violet turban. We saw you clearly there." Udal admitted that Vijaya had indeed recognized him. Vijaya then proposed marriage to Udal, but he said, "I will not marry in secret. Only after avenging my father will I marry you in front of society." Vijaya then asked him to swear on the Ganges. Udal took an oath and promised to marry her.
Vijaya then informed Udal about the four forts in the Mandu kingdom. One is ruled by her brother Anupi, another by her elder brother Surajpal. One is governed by King Karhiya Rai, and Lohagarh is ruled by her father, King Jambai. "Lohagarh is the most difficult to reach. First, clear the Baburi forest and gather your army there, then plan your strategy wisely." Udal began to walk toward the door, where the sages, disguised as Banaphar warriors, were waiting for him. When they asked what happened, Udal revealed the truth about his promise to Vijaya. Alha and Malkhan advised, "First, focus on the task we came here for."
The group then moved forward, reaching Lohagarh. The gatekeeper informed King Jambai of their arrival and sought permission to let them in. Jambai allowed them to enter. Karhiya Rai was also present with King Jambai. The sages greeted the king, and he began to inspect them. However, after hearing their explanations, the king was satisfied and asked them to begin their performance.
The sages started playing their musical instruments. Udal played the flute for a while, then sang and danced with abandon. The entire court was captivated. Everyone started offering them gifts. King Jambai had a special seat brought and asked for more details about them. Malkhan responded, "We are not after wealth. We are from Bengal and have a hermitage in Gorakhpur. We are disciples of Guru Gorakhnath. Soon, we will take a dip in the Ganges at Haridwar, and afterward, we will visit the temple of Hinglaj Bhavani." The king offered them a golden crown and invited them to rest, but Udal replied, "Flowing water and wandering sages always move forward. Today we are here, but tomorrow we will be elsewhere."
Then Udal added, "We have heard about a dancer named Lakha in your court. We heard of her dancing skills in Kashi." The king immediately sent for Lakha Patar. The dance began again, with the sages accompanying it. As Lakha danced, she moved closer to the sages. Udal then gave the Nau Lakha necklace to Lakha, thinking it would be safer with her here, as she was originally from Mahoba. Lakha recognized the warriors from Mahoba. They told her that they would only return to Mahoba after avenging their father. Although Lakha tried to hide it, King Jambai eventually noticed the necklace. The sages began to leave, but the king, wanting to confirm his suspicions, sent Karhiya Rai to retrieve the necklace from Queen Kushala.
At first, the queen made an excuse, but eventually, she confessed that she had gifted the necklace to the sages out of joy for their music. When Karhiya Rai informed King Jambai, the king felt deceived and said to Karhiya Rai, "Hurry and catch the sages. They are not sages; they are the princes of Mahoba!"
