So I've yet to play Twilight Princess. I would get the HD remake... but I don't own a Wii U, so that complicates things! Nevertheless, Twilight Princess has some of the darkest themes in the series, from what I've heard, and it's got some great ambient music. Tracks like Faron Woods are really awesome, and they remind me a bit of tracks like Zora's Domain from Ocarina of Time.

Midna's Lament is probably the most recognizable sad tune from Twilight Princess. I watched the entire cutscene and gameplay sequence before making this video, and it's pretty heartbreaking. I'll spare details for anyone who hasn't played the game yet.
