James Baroud Odyssey - Full Walkaround

One of the best things about this job is that some of the finest brands of camping and touring equipment trust me and my family to put their gear to the test in one of the harshest landscapes on the planet.

Over the past half a year or so I've been testing out the brand new Odyssey rooftop tent from James Baroud, designed and built in Portugal to the same exacting standards that put this company on the map decades ago.

I put the tent on Dunes and then took Dunes from my pied-a-terre on the Sunshine Coast all the way around to Exmouth and back again, a couple of times.

For the wife and I it is exceptionally comfortable either on the side of the road on hell runs or camped on some faraway unnamed cliff. For me, it's faster and a better sleep than my heretofore trusty swag. And for me, the wife and four kids, well, I'm not going to say it comfortably fits all of us, but we've done it heaps when setting up the full camp just isn't a possibility. You should see people's faces when we all pile out in the morning sometimes, but it lives up to the task, which is well beyond any realistic expectation.
