Prevented Ocean Plastic is proud to share the news of a new innovation- world-first food-safe recycled polypropylene (PP) for European markets.

PP- the type of plastic used in cups, trays, bottles and caps, and flexible films- is one of the most common plastic types polluting our oceans but only 1% is recycled. Now, for the first time, using novel technology and the Prevented Ocean Plastic collection and sortation model, a recycled PP has achieved food-safety to European standards, enabling it to be turned into high-quality packaging.

This initiative is expected to stop 500 million plastic cups from entering the ocean in its first year, enough to wrap around the Earth.
