Being a part of the Serious Communicable Disease Team means going through yearly training on donning and doffing the protective equipment needed in these rare emergencies. This process is usually performed with at least one observer at all times.

Many of these teams were birthed out of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa from 2014-16. During this period, hospitals needed to have a tested plan for treatment of these serious patients. The teams continue to train each year and have broadened their coverage to many other serious diseases. Examples are:
-Ebola
-Monkey Pox
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
etc
