Thanks to funds allocated for post-earthquake reconstruction and subsequent financing, the historic walls of L'Aquila have undergone careful restoration, consolidation, and enhancement work.
More recently, thanks to the 2014-2020 Development and Cohesion Fund, an additional 5 million euros have been allocated to complete the restoration of the Porta Branconia section.
In total, about 11 million euros from cohesion policies have been invested to restore the walls to their ancient splendor.
