Protests have escalated in Kathmandu, Nepal, following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Demonstrators have breached and set fire to the Singha Darbar, the palace complex that houses the nation's Parliament. The unrest, driven by young protesters, is fueled by anger over governance, a recent social media ban, and corruption. Tear gas and water cannons have been used by authorities to control the crowds. In an interview, Nepali Congress member and senior journalist Gopal Jha stated that the populace wants "correction in the system" rather than its complete overhaul. He also suggested the involvement of other elements in the violence, saying, "there is infiltration and some elements are trying to face in muddy water."
