🛑 Crisis in Bangladesh! Interim Chief Muhammad Yunus May Step Down Amid Political Turmoil

As per BBC Bangla, Professor Muhammad Yunus, the interim head of Bangladesh’s government, is considering resignation due to the lack of unity among political parties. Nhid Islam, chief of the National Citizen Party (NCP), confirmed that Yunus is feeling increasingly helpless in the current political environment.

💬 Yunus reportedly told Islam:

“Unless political parties reach common ground, I won’t be able to work.”

🔻The current tension escalates due to a growing rift between Yunus and the military, who had earlier supported his rise after Sheikh Hasina’s regime was toppled during a student-led uprising last year.

📦 During the unrest, the Bangladesh Army refused to crack down on protesters and eventually facilitated Hasina’s safe exit to India, making way for Yunus’s appointment.

However, Yunus now fears he lacks the political trust and assurance needed to function effectively as the head of state. While supporters from NCP urge him to stay strong for the nation’s future, Yunus feels that remaining without real power or cooperation is pointless.

👥 Over 60% of Bangladesh's youth backed Yunus post-uprising, but with the military backing uncertain and political consensus missing, his leadership now hangs in the balance.

Will Yunus resign? Is Bangladesh heading toward another political storm?
