Here is the DIY guide how you how to sand hardwood flooring from start to finish as we demonstrated in the video.

Step 1: Clear the room of all furniture and debris. Make sure to cover any vents or doorways with plastic to prevent dust from spreading throughout the house.

Step 2: Begin by using a coarse grit sandpaper (like a 36 grit) to remove any existing finishes or stains on the floor. Use a flooring drum sander for larger areas, and an orbital-edger sander for tight spaces and corners.

Step 3: Once you've finished with the rough grit paper, move on to a medium grit (like a 60 grit) to smooth out the surface. Again, use the drum sander for larger areas and the orbital sander for tight spaces.

Step 4: After you've finished with the medium grit, use a fine grit (like a 100 grit) to further smooth out the surface. This step is optional, but it will give your floor a more polished look.

Step 5: Once you've finished sanding, use a vacuum and a damp cloth to remove all dust and debris from the floor.

Step 6: Apply a stain if desired using a buffer with a 3mm white pad to spreadoutyourstain, and then seal the floor with a clear polyurethane or water based coating after the stain has dried out. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying and curing times.
