So we're here to explain what an offer is. And generally an offer comes in one of two forms. So we have the expression of interest and then we have the contract. The only difference is expression of interest, he says, "Here's my offer." If the owner accepts, we're going to go straight to contract. So the expression of interest is writing something I agree on on a paper napkin or a notepad.
This is not legally binding. This one is. So if you're serious about an offer, if the agent goes, "You know what? Why don't you just fill out this expression of interest?" Just say, "You know, I want to sign a contract and present the contract to the seller." The contract holds more weight. Why? Because that's legally binding. That one isn't. So expression of interest, generally you can just say, "You know what? I changed my mind." Because the owner can't exactly sign that. That's not a legally binding contract. This one is. That's the difference between an expression of interest and a contract.
