Tons of news agencies have written about Luckin Coffee, the Luckin Coffee Fraud, and China's coffee situation. Many of them make valid claims, or tell a true story. However this one in particular really bothered me.


"Failed" is past tense. If they had said "Luckin Coffee is Failing," I'd probably just leave it. But the fact that they had to go all out and say "Luckin Coffee Failed," they earned my criticism. Not to mention Hey Tea and Nayuki are two of thousands of milk tea establishments.


No. Luckin Coffee did not fail. Luckin Coffee is still very much in business. I get coffee from them frequently, and I made a whole series about it. If you want to make the point "Hey Tea and Nayuki are trying to up the quality of milk tea," then fine. But I'd still say there are plenty of new places trying to do the same thing. Like I said, milk tea in China is not new. Nor are tea based businesses. If you want to report on the current trend, fine. But don't make stupid claims in the process. No one is being "converted."
