Once upon a time, there was a young prince and a princess deeply in love. But the prince’s father called him back home to take over the throne, and he left with a heavy heart, promising to return. The princess waited and waited, but he did not come back. Then she heard that he was going to marry someone else.

Determined not to lose her love, the princess gathered her twelve loyal maidens. She asked them to dress as huntsmen, and together they set off to the prince’s kingdom, disguised as a band of twelve huntsmen.

The prince, not recognizing her, was impressed by the bravery of the huntsmen and invited them to his court. But the old king suspected something was amiss and devised a series of tests to see if they were really men.

The first test was to scatter twelve spinning wheels in their room, thinking the women would not resist spinning. But the princess warned her maidens, and none of them touched the wheels.

Then, the old king set a test with twelve sets of sewing needles and thread, thinking the women would start sewing. But again, the princess instructed her maidens, and they ignored the sewing tools.

Finally, the king brought in twelve bouquets of flowers, hoping the women would react. This time, one maiden nearly gave herself away, but the princess held her back just in time.

The prince, still unaware of his true love’s identity, was ready to marry the other princess. But at the last moment, he recognized the disguised princess and realized his heart still belonged to her.

The prince called off the wedding, and he and the princess were finally united, their love conquering all.
