VULPEX KNIVES - LOYAL LIMA / knife making / custom knife / Messer machen / CNC

Hallo friends out there !

Here i want to show the making-of of the "LOYAL LIMA" knife i made almost two months ago.
This knife was an special order from a special person. It is a custom made knife for a german soldier. The knife is designed to cope a lot of different tasks in the field.

The given targets by the customer w
ere:

making a robust and sharp knife for hard use but also finer work, like batoning wood and finer detail work in the forest
it should be overall dark and kind of "used" design
the knife has to be fixed by a sheath at the soldiers belt or tactical gear
my lovely material copper should be a highlighting element in the knife
He told me to make a EDC bushrafter to take out to the forest and other tasks legally in germany
choose a handle material to withstand the raw use

So i decided to make a knife that combines those all in one piece of artwork.

Some details:

Steel - 80CrV2 / 1.2235 carbon steel with dark stonewashed look
Handle - olive drab linen micarta with offset liners made out of copper / copper pins to mount strings etc.
Sheath - olive Kydex made for tek lok mount
Grind - flat grind with a 44 degree cutting edge for finer and raw use


It was a pleasure for me to make this knife. Thanks for spending more than 1 1/2 hours on the highway to pick the finished knife up in person.
I will never forget that moment when u held your baby in your hands. That shining eyes, that smile and that speechlessness was worth all the hard work my firend !
