The Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI) hosted Part 2 of its Forestry Scores series to release new scores assessing the quality risks of avoided deforestation credit types. These new scores will be added to CCQI's free, user-friendly scoring tool that allows users to explore and better understand the quality risks and benefits of different types of carbon credits.

Speakers Pedro Barata (Environmental Defense Fund), Lambert Schneider and Felix Fallasch (Oeko-Institut) presented key findings on the quality strengths and risks of REDD+ credits.

Founded by Environmental Defense Fund, World Wildlife Fund (WWF-US) & Oeko-Institut, CCQI provides transparent information on the quality of carbon credits. This enables users to understand what types of carbon credits are more likely to deliver actual emission reductions as well as social & environmental benefits.

Carbon credit buyers and traders can use CCQI scores as part of their due diligence efforts. Carbon crediting programs can use CCQI detailed assessments to improve their rules and methodologies. Project developers can use findings to design their projects in ways that avoid specific risks.
