Facelift AC Control System installed into a 2004 Subaru Forester XT - T&J Adventures

As you already know i'm on a path of modernizing our Forester's interior. The 2005 +, so facelift SG, AC Control unit is different from the 2004 one. It got a whole redesign but it kept the same packaging, which makes it a good upgrade option.
In comparison to the 2004, the facelift unit has all 3 dials as rotating type, the old one has one rotating and 2 push type, where you rotate it to each side to increase or decrease but the dial returns to the same position. Another difference is that the facelift one has 2 auto functions (one for fan speed and one for air orientation), the initial one only has a general auto setting where it controls everything automatically and if you move any dial it goes into manual control mode.
Two other important features are a cleaner fascia (smooth surface and no writing on the cover) and the bigger dials.
In general this is a one to one swap, there's no need to change anything on the facelift unit if your interior is stock. The facelift cover is the same color and the writing has got green illumination. I had to change both the cover (my interior is painted) and the lighting (my interior is white with red) by taking off the green plastic film from underneath the writing.
