What is PhotoVerify for remote onboarding?

PhotoVerify is a service for automated verification of ID ownership in remote situations where identity proofing is necessary. During this process, our API provides a reliable face match effectively recognizing if the person on the ID is actually is the one looking into the camera. In addition, our ISO compliant Liveness Detection simultaneously makes sure this person is indeed present. Due to this, any spoofing in the form of presentation attacks with photos or videos, can be prevented. This product can be integrated directly into any website or mobile app where the user’s webcam or smartphone camera can provide strong and intuitive selfie verification.

What is the advantage of using PhotoVerify for eKYC?

The benefits and application purposes of PhotoVerify are diverse. Not only is the process automated without the user having to compromise on time or efficiency but there is also a significant cost-reduction to consider. It is a service that is available and on-hand 24/7, which makes it extremely user-friendly.

What are the use cases for PhotoVerify identity verification?

The use cases span from password reset to true KYC (Know your costumer) one-time identity verification for initial onboarding. Due to this, it is perfect for Gluu Casa in case of password resets with an employee database for comparison, using enrolled template for “re-authentication” or identity documents.

PhotoVerify for selfie verification is, however, also beneficial in circumstances like online banking and electronic document signing, where legal transactions have to take place online. On top of that it can also be useful when renewing identity documents online as well as “Proof of life” verification for recipients of pensions and benefits. How do you prevent fraud when using PhotoVerify?

Due to the fact that our proprietary liveness detection is part of the PhotoVerify process, the benefits regarding fraud prevention of that service also apply. Liveness detection can detect any presentation attack through replayed avatars, 3D masks or other manipulation attempts.

How does BioID liveness detection work?

The way that liveness detection works is that two face images are being taken through the camera of the electronical device so it can check for changes in motion. As a 3D face moves in a different way than a 2D photo, our sophisticated motion-analysis detects this significant difference. Another way in which we can ensure liveness detection is through guiding the user to turn their head in a certain, randomized direction and therefore verify that the head was turned in the specified way.
