Within just 24 hours, Instagram crossed 25,000 users, and within 2 months, it hit 1 million users — a record at that time. The clean interface, square photos, filters, and simplicity made Instagram an instant hit, especially among iPhone users.

In 2012, Facebook (now Meta) acquired Instagram for $1 billion, even though it had only 13 employees. Many questioned the deal back then — but today, it is considered one of the smartest tech acquisitions in history.
