I'm thrilled to share that I have FIRMLY accepted an offer from Ryerson University's Faculty of Law.

As someone who has felt the blunt end of the criminal justice system, I have seen firsthand the power and voice of lawyers. I am keenly aware of the importance of vigorous and effective advocacy given the profound effect lawyers have on their clients’ lives. In my situation, I had to be my own advocate in many respects, completing hours of legal research once he was in the system.

This deeply personal experience has provided me with a unique frame of reference not only for those accused of crimes, but also an innate understanding of the circumstances that can bring people into the criminal justice system in the first place.

A law degree from Ryerson will empower me to dedicate my full energy to shaping a legal system that affords everyone equitable access to justice; a mission that can only be achieved if the legal profession itself becomes more diverse, inclusive and accessible.
