CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A 19-year-old who murdered a man when he was just 16, will spend the rest of his life in prison. A judge sentenced Andrew Lavender to life in prison without parole on aggravated murder and murder charges on January 3.

Lavender shot Ceran Lipscomb on August 1, 2014 near the Queensgate ballfields. Lipscomb died two days later at the hospital. It was a contract killing.

Lavender was arrested later that month. His case started out in the juvenile court system but was eventually transferred. A jury found him guilty last month.

The defense asked the judge to consider Lavender's age at the time of the murder. The attorney said Lavender was a model inmate and received his diploma.

The prosecution called him a danger to the community. He said there was no justification for the shooting, there was no fight, it didn't happen in anger. Lavender has never identified who paid him to kill Lipscomb.

The assistant prosecutor also said detectives monitored Lavender's jail calls. After his conviction, he talked to his mother about retaliating against those who testified against him. "This was a cold-blooded, calculated contract killing. To this day, to his opportunity to address you and the victims, this man has not shown one fleck of remorse for anything he's done."

Lavender declined to speak before his sentencing.
