🧪Step 1 - Take the facet lens and look through using one eye. Instead of one image like a telescope you will see lots of tiny images. Each image in the facet lens will look a little different. Some will appear more central, some will share more of the left or the right.

Which image are you drawn to in the lens?
🧪Step 1- Test this using a smartphone, hold the facet lens to the camera lens and watch the screen try to control whether the facet lens is at the correct position.

You will be able to take a variety of images and get creative.



⚗️The science

Lots of insects have facet eyes consisting of many individual eyes called ommatidia.n These eyes allow the insect to see their entire environment without moving their head which is how they're very reactive to movement. These structure change depending on the species. For example the facet eyes of quick-moving insects have more ommatidia than those of slower flying species.*

Fact: Facet eyes allow insects to perceive up to 300 single pictures per second while humans only manage 60 pictures er second.
