Parachutists spread their hands and legs out to maximize the surface area in the direction of motion. This helps them control their Descent. Since Drag force is directly proportional to the area perpendicular to the direction of motion, they are able to increase the drag force and increase it towards the gravitational force faster. This therefore leads to terminal velocity that steadies the fall. Understanding drag force in physics helps us to connect with the expression for terminal velocity.

In other words, as objects keep falling under the influence of gravity, they'll eventually reach a point where the drag force and the gravitational force are equal, resulting in zero net force. When this happens, the object no longer accelerates and continues to fall at a constant velocity. This phenomenon is known as "Principles of terminal velocity for Class 11 students"

So indeed there are real-world implications of terminal velocity. By understanding the relationship between shape, size, and the drag coefficient, we'll uncover the role of shape and size in determining an object's drag coefficient".
