Mehdi Akhavan-Sales, known by his pen name M. Omid, is one of the most influential poets of modern Persian literature. Born in 1928 in Mashhad, Iran, he was deeply drawn to classical Persian poetry, music, and literature from a young age. With his profound understanding of ancient Persian language and literature, combined with his personal experiences and the socio-political atmosphere of his time, he created a unique poetic voice—one that is both rooted in tradition and sharply reflective of contemporary life.
