John Abraham, one of the pioneer voices of Malayalam alternate cinema is known for his avant-garde filmmaking. Under John the Odessa Collective came into existence, an attempt by a group of movie enthusiasts to change the history of film production and distribution by making it a collaborative effort with the public and thus act as an empowering and liberating medium.
John could complete only 4 films before he passed away each of which are considered milestones of Indian Cinema. In this new retrospective series we look back at his films and discuss them with his collaborators and film-scholars. We start with Amma Ariyan, his last film in this discussion with Bina Paul, the editor of the film. As we have Binaji with us we also take this opportunity to discuss her role and visions around IFFK and WCC. Hope you enjoy the video.
