DeTomaso Mangusta for Sale at Daniel Schmitt & Co.

The Mangusta was first offered in 1967. In North American specification, the model utilized the 302ci (5.0 liter) V8; tuned to 230 horsepower. Suspension was fully independent and disc brakes were at all four corners while steering was especially responsive courtesy of a rack and pinion steering gear. The interior was dressed in full leather and featured full instrumentation which added to the race car feel. The Mangusta offered supercar level performance with an incredibly stylish Italian flair. The example featured here is finished in stunning all black with a highly original leather interior. This particular example was reputedly sold new in California and has only had three owners since. The most recent owner, a highly respected vintage motorsports enthusiast, acquired the DeTomaso from a friend in 1982 and meticulously maintained the Mangusta for the following 37 years! It presents and performs wonderfully having previously undergone a full engine rebuild as well as a full repaint. Having only traveled 47,760 miles, the interior is largely original with its original instruments and most of its original leather still intact.
