Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo - Buddhisms for our Times

Описание к видео Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo - Buddhisms for our Times

During the millennia that it has made itself relevant to widely different contexts, Buddhism has taken many different forms and undergone many processes of adaptation. As practitioners outside Tibetan Buddhism's original sphere of influence find its teachings deeply meaningful, they are also confronted with adaptations that were made to Buddhism as it took root in Tibet and the Himalayas but that do not transplant well outside that region. This series asks a variety of Buddhist teachers what need to be adapted or left aside, and what must be retained, in order for Buddhism to take forms that serve its liberating function in our contexts today. We launch this series with an interview with Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, whose life and teachings have been deeply rooted in traditional practices and forms and who has also been instrumental in bringing new educational opportunities to Himalayan nuns, calling out gender oppression in Buddhism and in inspiring Buddhist practitioners in Europe and the Americas.

This interview was recorded in India in 2016 for Dharmadatta's Spanish-language practice community. It was originally aired in Spanish subtitles on our faceBuda Youtube channel.
