Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. The radiator fan should come on twice, and then turn the engine off

Raise and support the vehicle making sure the vehicle is as level as possible. This will come into play when checking the new fluid level.

The transmission drain plug is located on the forward portion of the oil pan.

Using the 3/8 drive ratchet wrench, insert the wrench into the drain plug fitting and loosen the oil drain plug by turning the wrench towards the front of the vehicle. Then remove the drain plug by hand using caution as the fluid may be hot.

To prevent the fluid from surging and aid in the draining of oil, remove the filler cap by pulling out and up towards the front of the car.

While waiting for the oil to drain now is a good time to remove any particles from the magnetic surface of the drain plug with a clean rag. Also now is a good time to replace the crush washer.

Reinstall the drain plug and clean up any remaining oil residue.

Torque the drain plug to 36 pound feet being careful to not over tighten the bolt as damage can occur.

With the help of a funnel, refill the transmission with 3.7 Liters of fluid into the filler hole. As stated previously, always use Honda HCF-2 CVT Fluid. Using the wrong type of fluid can damage the transmission.

Remove the funnel and Reinstall the filler cap.

Before checking the oil level, Start the engine with the parking brake set and the shift lever in Park. Move the shift level through all of it’s positions, making sure to wait approximately three seconds at each position. Then return the shifter to Park and turn the engine off.

The oil level is checked via a check hole. This diagram shows the normal operating fluid level range. Make sure the vehicle is level prior to checking the transmission fluid level.

The check bolt is located above the Drain plug.

Using a 12mm socket and wrench, remove the check plug. The fluid may be hot, so use caution.

A slow drip from the check hole means the fluid is at the proper level. If no fluid comes out from the check hole, reinstall the check bolt, add more fluid, run through the gears again and recheck. On the other hand, if fluid is pouring out of the hole, wait until the fluid is at the proper level and slows down to a drip.

Reinstall the check bolt with a new gasket and torque to fifteen pound feet.

Lastly, carefully lower the vehicle, double check for leaks and take it for a test drive.
