The Benrinnes Flora & Fauna 15 Speyside Whisky Review

Описание к видео The Benrinnes Flora & Fauna 15 Speyside Whisky Review

This week Joel and Tim is reviewing an often-overlooked distillery - it's Benrinnies! They will be tasting the Benrinnies 15-year-old!

The malts of the “Flora & Fauna” series are bottlings from lesser-known distilleries of whisky behemoths Diageo. This often-overlooked distillery lies under the shadow of its namesake mountain, the tallest peak in Speyside. Until 2007, Benrinnes Distillery maintained a complex partial triple distillation process that produced a meaty, weighty spirit. This single malt whisky is then matured mainly in sherry casks, resulting in the perfect blend of malt and barrel influence.

Tasting notes:

Nose:
Choc-chip cookie dough comes first with hints of toffee, new leather, polished oak, dried figs and prunes. A muscular sweet malt aroma comes through with time.

Taste:
Rich and sweet but never cloying, the sherry becomes more apparent here. Features notes of juicy raisins, stewed fruits, vanilla shortbread and musty leather.

Finish:
The malty and biscuity notes transition to supple oak tannins on this medium-long finish. More Sherry notes with a hint of barrel char that may be mistaken for peat smoke.
