Ration cards are an official document issued by state governments in India to households that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System (under the National Food Security Act). They also serve as a common form of identification for many Indians.

Under the National Food Security Act, all state governments in India have to identify households that are eligible for purchasing subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System and provide them with ration cards.
There are two types of ration cards under NFSA:

Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY)
Priority House Holds - (PHH)

Before the NFSA was enacted, there were three types of ration cards:
• APL ration cards
• BPL ration cards
• Antyodaya (AAY) ration cards

નમસ્કાર મિત્રો,

રેશનકાર્ડ એ ભારતના રાજ્ય સરકારો દ્વારા એવા ઘરોને આપવામાં આવતા એક સત્તાવાર દસ્તાવેજ છે કે જે જાહેર વિતરણ સિસ્ટમ (રાષ્ટ્રીય ખાદ્ય સુરક્ષા કાયદા હેઠળ) પાસેથી સબસિડીવાળા અનાજની ખરીદી માટે પાત્ર છે. તેઓ ઘણા ભારતીયો માટે ઓળખના સામાન્ય સ્વરૂપ તરીકે પણ સેવા આપે છે.

રાષ્ટ્રીય ખાદ્ય સુરક્ષા કાયદા હેઠળ, ભારતની તમામ રાજ્ય સરકારોએ એવા ઘરોની ઓળખ કરવી પડશે કે જે જાહેર વિતરણ પ્રણાલીમાંથી સબસિડીવાળા અનાજની ખરીદી કરવાને પાત્ર છે અને તેમને રેશનકાર્ડ પૂરા પાડવામાં આવશે.

એનએફએસએ હેઠળ બે પ્રકારના રેશનકાર્ડ છે:
અગ્રતા ધરાવતા રેશનકાર્ડ
અન્યોદય (એ.એ.વાય.) રેશનકાર્ડ

એન.એફ.એસ.એ. પહેલા રેશનકાર્ડને ત્રણ ભાગમાં વિભાજીત કરવામાં આવતા હતા.
એ.પી.એલ. રેશનકાર્ડ
બી.પી.એલ. રેશનકાર્ડ
અન્યોદય (એ.એ.વાય.) રેશનકાર્ડ
