1910's Orient Express & Bavarian train pulled by K.Bay.Sts.B s2/6. Trix 22535, 22966 & Marklin 42754

How K.Bay.Sts.B S2/6 Trix Fine Art 22535 (42220 for AC) green color made in 1999 compares to Trix 22966 (MA 37018) in violet released in 2018? The result may surprise you.



The video focus on S2/6 pulling a CIWL 1910's Orient Express train. The train set is a Marklin 42754 set released in early 2000's. It has been adapted to run on DC tracks.


The Trix 22535 is in the dark green paint. It was upgraded with Zimo MX645 decoder with Henning sound file and Zimo “Dumbo” double sugar cube speaker. The Trix 22966 in Palatine violet color is the newer model and has factory installed sound decoder.


Last, the MSRP were the same EUR 500. The older model was priced in DM, but when converted to EUR they both had the same price. I am not counting inflation for the first model.


My conclusion:
Sorry for those that got the newer Marklin/Trix model of S2/6 released in 2016,2017 and 2018, but the Trix model made in 1999 is much better detailed model.
Marklin made a good profit selling the later released, 2016-18, model by cutting corners.
