The night the High Priestess of Soul met the King of the Blues. "Passion Fruit" is the lost 1966 Memphis recording session where Nina Simone and B.B. King traded piano keys for guitar strings.
Discovered on a dusty reel-to-reel tape marked simply "Memphis Summit '66," this project unearths a legendary, rumored collaboration. History tells us Nina Simone and B.B. King were both giants of their craft, but they rarely crossed paths in the studio. This lost album changes that narrative.
Set against the backdrop of the turbulent mid-60s, these tracks capture a raw, late-night dialogue between Nina’s classically trained, haunting vocals and the crying sting of B.B. King’s "Lucille." Moving from slow-burning 12-bar blues to stomping soul grooves, "Passion Fruit" is a testament to the pain, power, and passion of the 1966 Memphis sound.
