As the Nation celebrated Republic Day with flags and banners, we at the PfA Wildlife hospital did it in a quieter way- the safe rescue of our pride, our national bird.

This Peafowl chick had been kept in captivity. The family was educated about the illegal aspect and safely rescued.

This Republic Day, let's remember that wildlife has constitutional rights too! Await a post on the law and provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.She is learning to forage through to look for fruits and worms in a habitat created just for her.
Rehabilitation is under way. We look forward to send her back home as an independent and strong bird.
