An update on Monica Robins' brain tumor.

On this episode of the Health Yeah! Podcast with Monica Robins, Monica talks with her neuro-oncologist, Dr. Mina Lobbous with Cleveland Clinic.

He discusses her extremely rare genetic mutation. Monica is the only one in the U.S. and one of four in the world that have this particular genetic mutation.

Her Mutation: TRAF7 p.Y563C c.1688Ag

The other three are in Europe. They include one with bladder cancer, one with mesothelioma and one with meningioma.

Monica volunteered for clinical research to have my tumor mapped genetically because she wanted to know if there could be a targeted therapy, or if she qualified for a clinical trial.

No one expected that she would be the only one discovered in the U.S. with this type of genetic mutation.

The other part of the clinical research is building a genetic brain tumor bank so 20 years from now if someone has one like Monica's, they may be better able to decide appropriate treatment options.
