Mikael Lyck from Chronicle Chamber reviews the latest two Fantomen issues - 2022/16 & 2022/17 which features the following stories:

"The Buried Witness" (Remake off "Diana and the Bank Robbers" by Lee Falk and Wilson McCoy) by Lee Falk and Özcan Eralp.

Fantomen 16/2022 Review

With the first cover in Fantomen made by Janusz Ordon we get this style that looks like a painting, which I enjoy. Your thoughts?

We finally got the result of the best cover of 2021, included a nice poster. If you want to read more about the best cover you can read my article on the Chronicle Chamber website (https://bit.ly/21Cover).

The main story is written by Jacob Habinc and has art done by Alex Saviuk. It seems inspired by all these old environmental stories we used to see plenty of in the late 1980's but with a more modern take. A lake with a power plant construction and a closeby tribe is the setting…

The second story is an old Özcan Eralp story which is remade by a Lee Falk story.

"Drama in the Desert" is about Diana and Byron getting caught by slave traders, Byron flees and informs Phantom and while Diana outsmarts the slavers and Phantom follow the tracks they run past each other in the way that happened a lot in the early Phantom stories.

Fantomen 17/2022 Review

A bright nice cover from Luca Erbetta with the Phantom and the outlaws.

Main story "The Outlaws" by Pidde Andersson and Rafael Dantas, a Frew created story that looks great with some colours. A lot happens in this one, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid meet up with the Phantom and the story is quite funny.

As backup, we get an old reprint, "The Buried Witness", which is a 1972 Team Fantomen story by Lee Falk and Özcan Eralp. Which is another remake story, this time "Diana and the Bank Robbers". In Robert Aman's book he references this story and after reading both I can see some of his points. Diana is more or less lucky in her endeavours while the Phantom comes in and saves the day.

Next issue will contain daily stories "Towns Ellerbee" and "Hello the Himalayas" by Tony DePaul and Mike Manley, plus a Sy Barry classic "Death from the Sky" and a new story of "Red Pirate".
